Bowen Technique for infants to the elderly - massage @ migym - nelson massage therapist

Bowen Therapy at Massage @ Migym in Nelson

Bowen Therapy is a remedial body technique composed of a series of small precise moves, each at a specific site on the body. There is no forceful manipulation, just a light to moderate cross-fibre manoeuvring which stimulates changes in muscles, tendons or ligaments. These gentle yet powerful moves send neurological impulses to the brain resulting in a response of muscle relaxation and pain reduction. This effect is not just local, but addresses the entire body.

In most cases, the recipient can expect substantial relief after just the first session, and usually only require 3 treatments, except in the case of chronic illness or repeat injury. Some people feel shifts in their bodies during and after a Bowen session, and while many experience immediate pain relief, improvement is just as likely to unfold over the next few days to a week.

For this reason it is advised that you do not have any other physical therapy, or other forms of manipulation - such as massage, physiotherapy, acupuncture etc, for three days prior to , and three days following a treatment.

There are many conditions that respond well to Bowen Therapy, including sports & accident injuries, whiplash, shoulder dysfunction, head & neck tension, respiratory & asthma complaints, acute & chronic fatigue, sciatica, carpel tunnel syndrome, sinus congestion, and stress.

Bowen Technique is $75 for 1 hour, $45 for half hour.
